For the Friday evening social you should dress casual. We will be getting on busses and making the short 20 mile drive to rural High Springs, Florida where we will be enjoying the facilities of the Camp Kulaqua Retreat. Our destination is located on 700 beautiful acres among sprawling majestic oak trees with its own natural springs.

In addition to great food,  activities will include swimming in the springs (if you like cold spring water), enjoying a one-mile board walk around the springs area, playing volleyball, mini putt-putt, or croquet (for the more competitive types; or frisbee for those who like something less formal), and socializing with colleagues in a comfortable, rural Florida, atmosphere. Canoes will also be available.

Experience nature as it was meant to be experienced.

High Springs is a historical railroad and mining town situated just northwest of Gainesville in Central Florida. There are several private springs resorts and state parks located here that makes High Springs a very desirable place to spend some time. The Ichetucknee Springs State Park located along the Ichetucknee River is a national natural landmark. The Ichetucknee River is like looking into a deep, clear natural aquarium. You can easily see the fish, and occasionally critters like river otters. The park covers a six-mile stretch along the river. Visitors throughout the ages have been fascinated by Florida’s springs, calling them “The Fountain of Youth.” This area has one of the highest concentrations in the world – 300 known natural springs. Poe Springs Park has a boardwalk through giant oak trees and a rustic meeting hall with a fireplace for group events. You can also hike a nature trail to the crystal clear springs, or swim, canoe or fish in the Santa Fe River. Other places to visit near High Springs are the O’Leno State Park, Ginnie Springs Resort and the Santa Fe Canoe Outpost.
